Marjorie Mau’s recent drawings are in a series titled Still Life: Holding Sound. These works evoke the past, and move into the present. Long a lover of vessels — those she once constructed from clay have become artifacts over the passage of time all the while acting (subliminally?) as the inspiration that has brought graphite and ink to paper to create contemporary facsimiles thereof.
