Creatures of Wonder is a stunning selection of works from the studio of Sister Bay artist Craig Blietz. Monumental scale, uncanny in their likenesses, come enter the agrarian world of this notable Wisconsin artist.

This brilliant draftsman begins each new painting with a carefully considered small scale monochrome ink rendering, moving on to more fully explore compositional strategies in gouache. It is here that he carefully builds up his sophisticated, multi-layered approach that leads to the densely occupied large scale works that marry realism with abstraction. Our Sidedoor Gallery will take you inside Craig’s intimate process by including a selection of his preliminary studies along with some of his most dramatic and magnificent large scale works.
